Safety Week - Guest Speaker - Tim Jarvis

What does it take to recreate one of the greatest survival journeys in history?
In 2013, Tim Jarvis AM re-enacted Sir Ernest Shackleton’s legendary 1916 Antarctic journey from Elephant Island to South Georgia. With a small team, Tim tackled the 800-mile (1,300 km) voyage aboard a replica of Shackleton’s 23-foot whaler, the James Caird, wearing period clothing and without modern navigation technology or equipment.
The expedition was an extraordinary test of endurance, decision-making, adaptability and teamwork. Tim later documented the journey in the award-winning documentary and book Chasing Shackleton: Re-creating the World’s Greatest Journey of Survival.
For Tim, adventure is ultimately about what we learn when we challenge ourselves:

Join us for Safety Week to hear Tim share remarkable stories and practical lessons about pragmatic optimism, adaptability, resilience and teamwork, and what happens when plans are tested and people need to work together to keep moving forward.

Safety Week - Airside FOD Walk
Wednesday 14 October 12:30pm – 2:30pm |Southern Screening | Meet at 12:15pm
Head airside with the Airside Operations team for our Safety Week FOD Walk.
The mission: collect as much FOD (Foreign Object Debris) as possible while increasing awareness of the important role we all play in maintaining a safe airside environment.
We'll provide the:
- Garbage bags
- Gloves
- Rubbish grabbers
You just need to bring your safety awareness and be ready to get involved!
Access requirements
All participants must have either:
- a RED ASIC, or
- a VIC Pass sponsored by a RED ASIC holder.
No booking is required for the FOD Walk. Simply meet at Southern Screening by 12:15pm on the day.
