Training & Inductions
To ensure a safe, secure and efficient airport environment, all workers must complete training relevant to their role before commencing work.
Some training is delivered online through AAL Academy, while other courses include face-to-face practical sessions, assessments or exercises.
The training you require will depend on where you work and what activities you undertake at the airport.
Retail & Terminal Staff
If you work in a retail store, food and beverage outlet, kiosk, service desk or other tenancy within the terminal, you will generally need to complete the following training:
Before Collecting Your ASIC
Airport Induction - online via AAL Academy
Within Your First Week of Operation
Bin Lifter Training - in person with an Airport Duty Manager
(if responsible for waste management)
At next available training slot
Fire Warden Training - in person with Terminal Manager
Each tenancy must ensure at least one trained Fire Warden is on duty at all times.
Airside Operational Staff
If your role involves working in airside areas, such as, Baggage or Ground Handling, Aircraft Cleaning, Servicing or Operations, Ramp Services
You must complete all required training before commencing work.

Contractors
Contractors undertaking works at Adelaide Airport must complete all training prior to undertaking any works:
- Airport Induction
- Security Awareness Training
- Working Airside Training (if working airside)
- Authority to Drive Airside (if driving airside vehicles)
- Any site-specific or project-specific training requirements
Airline Staff
If you are employed by an airline and work within the terminal environment, you will generally need:

Training Requirements & Resources
How its delivered: Online via AAL Academy
Who should attend: Mandatory for all new staff working at Adelaide Airport.
This induction provides an overview of Adelaide Airport, key operational requirements, emergency procedures, workplace safety expectations and important information for working within the airport environment.
How its delivered: Online via AAL Academy
Who should attend: Staff requiring airport access or working within secure areas.
This course provides an understanding of aviation security requirements, access control, reporting obligations, prohibited items, suspicious behaviour, unattended baggage and individual responsibilities for maintaining a safe and secure airport environment.
How its delivered: In person with an Airport Duty Manager
Who should attend: Staff responsible for waste disposal within Terminal 1.
Request Training: Register for Bin Lifter Training
This practical training covers the safe operation of Adelaide Airport's bin lifting equipment, waste disposal procedures, recycling requirements and the correct use of waste management facilities located throughout the terminal.
How its delivered: In person with the Terminal Manager
Who should attend: Nominated Fire Wardens and supervisory staff.
Request Training: Register for Fire Warden Training
This course provides staff with an understanding of emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, warden responsibilities, emergency response protocols and how to assist occupants during an evacuation or emergency incident.
Each tenancy requires at least one Fire Warden
How its delivered: Online via AAL Academy
Who should attend: Staff requiring access to airside operational areas.
This training introduces the unique hazards and operational requirements of the airside environment, including aircraft safety, vehicle and pedestrian interactions, restricted areas, operational awareness and airside safety responsibilities.
How its delivered: Online and Practical in-person Assessment
Who should attend: Staff required to operate vehicles in airside areas.
Learn More: Authority to Drive Airside (ADA) License
This course provides the knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate a vehicle within the airside environment. Topics include airside road rules, vehicle operating requirements, aircraft right-of-way, radio procedures and safe driving practices.
Successful completion is required before an Authority to Drive Airside can be issued.
How its delivered: By your employer Airline
Who should attend: Airline and ground handling personnel responsible for aerobridge operations.
Request Training: Register for Aerobridge Training
This training covers the safe operation of passenger aerobridges, including positioning procedures, safety checks, emergency controls, fault reporting and operational responsibilities when servicing aircraft.
How its delivered: By your employer Airline
Who should attend: Staff required to transport passengers within the terminal.
Request Training: Register for Passenger Buggy Training
This course focuses on the safe operation of passenger buggies within public areas of the airport, including safe driving practices, pedestrian awareness, passenger assistance requirements and operational responsibilities.

Induction FAQs
There are two ways to access our inductions:
- If you are directly contracted or sub-contracted by Adelaide Airport you first register your business in Sitepass and add your employees who will complete the induction through this app
- If you are not directly contracted by Adelaide Airport your employees will complete their induction through AAL Academy. To request access please complete the form.
Yes - the Online Portal is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Each induction course takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
Yes - all sub-contractors require the same induction as other contactors. If you are working for a contractor who is providing services to AAL, you will need to complete these inductions in SitePass.
Yes - each induction course has assessments which require an 80% or more pass mark.
You will be required to re-sit that section of the induction until you pass.
Inductions require renewal every 2 years or when your ASIC card expires.
No – inductions are free of charge.
You will not be permitted to commence work. All workers must be inducted. If you are found onsite without being inducted you will be removed from site immediately.
