Security Passes
Working at Adelaide Airport may require specific security clearances, access permissions and airport-issued passes. Whether you're setting up a new business, onboarding employees or arranging temporary access for contractors and visitors, we're here to help guide you through the process.
Security Passes
Maintaining a safe and secure airport environment is a shared responsibility.
Adelaide Airport requires all employees, contractors and visitors who need access to secure areas to hold the appropriate identification, security clearances and access permissions.
Whether you're setting up your business, applying for an ASIC, organising passes for your team, arranging temporary visitor access or transferring an existing pass, this page provides the information and tools you need to get started.
Select the option below that best matches your situation.
Your Security Responsibilities
Holding a security pass comes with important responsibilities.
All pass holders must:
- Wear their pass visibly above the waist at all times when required.
- Never allow another person to use their pass.
- Challenge or report suspicious behaviour.
- Follow all airport security procedures and directions.
- Report lost, stolen or damaged passes immediately.
- Ensure visitors and contractors comply with escort requirements where applicable.
Security is everyone's responsibility. By following airport security requirements, you help protect passengers, staff, tenants and airport operations while ensuring Adelaide Airport remains a safe and secure environment for all.
Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
To help keep Adelaide and Parafield Airports safe and secure, anyone working in security-sensitive areas without an escort must hold a valid Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), as required by Australian aviation legislation.
The ASIC program is an important part of airport security. It ensures that only those who’ve completed the necessary background checks can access secure zones independently.
All identification cards and access permissions are issued under strict conditions. It’s important to provide accurate and complete information during your application—missing or incorrect details may result in your ASIC being declined.
If you need an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC), please speak with your employer to get the details you’ll need for your online application.
You can find everything you need to know—including eligibility and required documents—on the Adelaide Airport ASIC website
- ADL Staff: Your HR Team/Manager will advise you of a need to apply for an ASIC. You will then receive an email with a link to proceed with your application.
- ADL Users: Apply via adl.asic.net.au. If your organisation would like to apply for a corporate account with Veritas, please email: agents@veritasgroup.com.au
- Submit your ASIC application through the ADL Veritas portal, including your Security Awareness Training
- Present your original identity documents at an authorised Veritas Agent or participating Australia Post outlet.
- Once approved, Veritas will print your ASIC and mail it to your nominated address. Follow the activation instructions provided with your card. For security access to be enabled you will need to complete the Security Access Request Form (SAC Form) and present to the Pass issue Office at Southern Screening.
For current ASIC pricing, please refer to the Veritas ASIC Fee Summary.
Whilst no issuing body can guarantee a turnaround time for approvals due to dependencies on federal background checks, Veritas strives to deliver ASICs within 2–3 weeks* of application lodgement. The duration of a background check is determined by Government agencies.
If you have an urgent requirement, please contact us and we will endeavour to assist you.
All enquiries regarding ASIC applications are managed by Veritas.

Change of Employer (ASIC)
If you already hold a valid ASIC and change employers while continuing to work at Adelaide Airport, you must notify the airport and update your ASIC records.
This ensures access permissions remain accurate and that security records reflect your current employer.
Australia Wide ASIC
If you have operations across multiple Airport's, you may be eligible to get an Australia Wide AISC
Where an employee already holds an ASIC through one airport employer (their primary employer) and subsequently commences employment with another airport employer (their secondary employer), the following information should be provided along with the Joint Employer Authorisation Letter:
- A letter from the primary employer confirming:
- the employee's ongoing employment; and
- that the primary employer consents to the employee undertaking work for the secondary employer.
- A letter from the secondary employer confirming:
- the employee's employment with that business; and
- the employee's operational need to work at Adelaide Airport.
These documents should be submitted to the Pass Issue Office
Example A – No change to ASIC access required
A barista working at Café A picks up additional casual shifts at Café B. Their existing ASIC access is suitable for both roles, so no access changes are likely required.
Example B – ASIC access may need updating
A retail employee takes on a secondary role in a duty free store. Their existing ASIC may require a minor access update to reflect their new operational need.
Example C – New ASIC application may be required
A retail employee takes on a secondary role as a baggage handler. As this role requires airside access and additional security requirements, a new/amedment ASIC application and additional training may be required before they can commence duties in the new role.
Visitor Identification Card (VIC)
A Visitor Identification Card (VIC) provides temporary access for people who need short-term entry to secure areas and do not hold an ASIC.
VIC holders must be supervised or escorted at all times by an ASIC card holder in accordance with airport security requirements and wear it visible above the waist.
You may require a VIC if you are:
- Attending a meeting in a secure area
- Undertaking short-term contractor works
- Visiting a tenant or airport business
- Waiting on an ASIC
VICs can be issued for up to 28 days in total over a 12-month rolling period at any one airport.
You can collect a VIC from the following locations at Adelaide Airport:
- Southern Screening
- Northern Screening
- Gate J - Airside Entry
If you need VICs for three or more people, please complete a Visitor Identification Card Pre-Request Form and submit it at least 72 hours before the intended start date.
To receive a VIC, you must meet current regulatory ID requirements.
Please ensure all VICs are returned to one of the issuing locations before they expire.
Security Access
Security Access determines which doors, gates, staff areas, and operational areas an individual can access within Adelaide Airport.
No. Holding an ASIC does not automatically grant access to airport facilities. Employees must also complete any required airport inductions and have their access permissions approved and coded by Adelaide Airport.
Security Access can be arranged once the required airport inductions have been completed and access requirements have been approved. Adelaide Airport will then code the employee's access permissions based on their operational needs.
To avoid delays, employers should begin the Security Access setup process at the same time as the ASIC application process. This helps ensure employees can access the areas they need as soon as their ASIC is issued.
Security Access is managed by Southern Security Services, located in the Adelaide Airport terminal. Once the employee's ASIC application is underway, employers should visit Southern Security to arrange the required access permissions.
