Australia Wide ASIC

If your role requires operational access at more than one Australian airport, you may be eligible to apply for an Australia-Wide ASIC (AUS ASIC).

This is commonly required for:

• National or regional managers.
• Airline personnel working across multiple airports.
• Contractors servicing multiple airport locations.
• Service providers who regularly travel between airports.

An Australia-Wide ASIC allows the cardholder to demonstrate an operational need across multiple Australian airports, rather than being limited to a single airport. 

Step 1: Obtain Evidence of Operational Need

You will need a supporting letter from each airport where access is required.

The letters should confirm:

• Your role and employer.
• Why access to that airport is required.
• The areas you need access to.
• The operational need for ongoing access.

Step 2: Contact Your ASIC Issuing Body

You must then contact the organisation that originally issued your ASIC.

This may be Adelaide Airport or another ASIC issuing body, depending on where your ASIC was originally obtained.

Provide:

• Your current ASIC details.
• The supporting letters from each airport.
• Any additional information requested by the issuing body.

The issuing body will assess your application and advise whether your ASIC can be upgraded to an Australia-Wide ASIC.

Step 3: Pay Applicable Fees

Fees for upgrading to an Australia-Wide ASIC vary depending on the issuing body that manages your ASIC.

Please contact your issuing body directly for current pricing and processing requirements.

An Australia-Wide ASIC does not automatically provide access to secured areas at every airport.

While the ASIC confirms your security clearance and operational need, each airport manages its own Security Access permissions.

You will still need to follow the local Security Access process at each airport to have your card programmed with the appropriate access permissions.

This may include:

• Airport-specific inductions.
• Security Access applications.
• Local approvals.
• Card coding or activation requirements.

If you require access at Adelaide Airport, you must still complete the Adelaide Airport Security Access process, including any required inductions and access approvals.

Once approved, Adelaide Airport will code your ASIC with the access permissions required for your role.

1. Confirm you have an operational need at multiple Australian airports.
2. Obtain supporting letters from each airport.
3. Contact the organisation that originally issued your ASIC.
4. Submit the required supporting documentation.
5. Pay any applicable upgrade fees.
6. Receive approval for an Australia-Wide ASIC.
7. Complete Security Access requirements at each airport where access is required.
8. Have your ASIC coded with the appropriate access permissions for each airport.

Important: An Australia-Wide ASIC does not replace local airport Security Access requirements. Access permissions, inductions and card coding must still be completed separately at each airport before access can be granted.
